Sweet almonds

Description

Sweet almonds are the fruit of a small tree of the Rosaceae family, mainly growing in the vast expanses of Eurasia and North America. It is customary to classify the almond fruit as nuts, although in fact it is a leathery drupe, in its peeled form resembling the stone of a small peach (see photo). Under the hard shell there is an oblong seed covered with a brownish skin, which has a creamy shade in the section. It is called a nut and is eaten.
