Pomegranate

Description

Pomegranate (Latin Púnica granátum) is a subtropical shrubby plant (less often a tree) of the genus Pomegranate and its fruits. Pomegranate fruits are round rather heavy fruits with thick dense skin, red, brown or light brown in color. Inside the fruit there are grains – bright red or pink small juicy seeds, with a small narrow stone. The taste of pomegranate seeds is sweet and sour, slightly tart. The seeds are collected in nests, where they are arranged in two rows, each nest is "packed" with a white leathery membrane. A pomegranate usually has 7-9 nests, which contain up to 1000 grains.
